Head Coach
Jerry Hood
A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Coach Hood graduated from Huffman High School and then went on to play and graduate from Alabama State University. Coach Hood began his coaching career at McAdory in 1993 where he served as an assistant coach for 3 years. In 1996, he moved over to Oak Mountain to assist in starting the football program at the new high school. He served as the defensive coordinator from 1999-2003. He also coached 9th Grade Basketball and served as the Strength Coach while at Oak Mountain.
He became the Head Football Coach in 2004 and served for 5 years. In 2009, Coach Hood became the Head Coach at Clay Chalkville High School where over an eight year period his teams were 75-26 including a 15-0 State Championship run in 2014. This same year, he was named the USA Today Alabama Coach of the Year as well as the Alabama Football Coaches Association Coach of the Year.
Coach Hood came to Leeds in 2019 and it took just one year for him to get the Greenwave back to its winning ways. Since 2020, Leeds is 39-9 and 23-3 in region play.
